The September Issues

You know what they say… blondes have more fun. As a brunette, I can attest to the fact that this is not true — we all have fun. But, this September, blondes are taking over the newsstands.

September is the muched hyped about month in the world of women’s and fashion magazines. Issues of Vogue and Elle literally look like the yellow pages, and they’re always filled with glistening, buzzed about ads from the top couture designers. It’s rumored that ad pages will be down about 1/3 this year. But look on the bright side: maybe we’ll actually be able to lug these magazines around during morning commutes.

Here’s the run down of alleged September Cover Girls:

Vogue: Charlize Theron.
Elle: Jennifer Aniston.
W: Kate Moss.
Allure: Amanda Seyfried.
Glamour: Jessica Simpson (am i allowed to ask — why?!)
Marie Claire: Ashley Olsen.

Look at for these issues on newsstands!

Last year, I loved the September Vogue featuring Kiera Knightley.

Oh wait.. I’m forgetting something. At the end of this month, THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE FINALLLLY ARRIVES in theaters. I have been awaiting this documentary since last September, literally. I can’t wait to see Anna in action. Watch the trailer here.

I cannot wait to dive into all of these September Issues.

The men of Gossip Girl looking hotter than ever.

Filed under: TV — by kaitlinwithak @ 4:52 pm

All three of our favorite gossiping hotties appear on the cover of the November issue of Details.

I CANT WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON AN ISSUE! I haven’t been this excited about a mens magazine cover since Adriana Lima on the cover of GQ!

The REAL question is..if you could pick one… WHO would you pick? Sweet and innocent Dan, Nate with his beauty of the gods, or bad boy and real life Brit Chuck Bass? Decisions, decisions :D

I’ll take all three! (justkiddingjustkidding)
But really.

Dear Phillip Lim…

Filed under: Fashion — by kaitlinwithak @ 2:34 am

I absolutely adore you
xoxo
Kaitlin with a K.

But really, I had to hold in my SHRIEKS when I saw Blair glide across my housemate’s tv screen tonight. M has a very strict no talking rule during Gossip Girl….and it killed me that I couldn’t announce to the room that Blair was wearing one of Lim’s signature looks, and that very dress is one of the many reasons why I am such a Lim lover.

In barely four years Phillip Lim has created quite a name for himself… It seems like yesterday that he was dubbed the next big thing in fashion (by yours truly… and other fabulous fashion editors of course). He is redefining American sports wear, and after the latest collection and the recent press, I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Fashion Week has moved on … But here are the highlights :)

Filed under: Fashion, Uncategorized — by kaitlinwithak @ 12:49 pm

New York fashion week is over, sadly. The upside – shows in London, Paris, Milan, etc!

Here were my favorite looks of the week …

Monique Lhuillier won my vote as far as gorgeous gowns go. I hope to see some of these dresses on the red carpet

Phillip Lim is on his way to reinventing american sportswear. I’ve been a fan since the very beginning, so naturally I get SUPER excited when I stories about him on the pages of Elle and Glamour (both magazines feature him in their October issues)

Diane. What can we say about Diane. Everything she does is flawless, and this collection was all about the effortless boho chic look. And I LOVED it!

Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 – the great one does it once again.

Filed under: Fashion, Uncategorized — by kaitlinwithak @ 12:25 am

I’ve said it once, and I will say it again. NO ONE can do what Marc Jacobs does. He is quite simply a visionary, and I WISH I could spend a day in the life of Marc Jacobs’ mind. I would love to know what goes on in there…

Anyway, his spring collection, which was sent down the runway last night, was surprising and eclectic of course, and totally unexpected, another given. Marc mixed elements of classic Americana, like plaids, ginghams, and seemingly delicate prints with menswear inspired pieces, like suit jackets and high waisted pants. The ascetic of the show was very 40s Americana, with a hint of Parisian elegance. Fabrics ranged from these classics to shiny metallics in shades of teal, deep blue, and black. The combination may sound strange, and upon first glance will certainly look it, but the creativity he exhibits floors me. The common thread running through nearly every look was a sash at the waist, and flattened hats, which seem to be a nod to Parisian style if you ask me.

My favorite look closed the show – a dove gray floor length jersey dress with an off the shoulder neck line and billowed waist, finished with a fabulous black belt.

The great one of fashion has done it again. Of course … would you expect anything less?

Michael Angel = Simply Ravishing

Filed under: Fashion, Uncategorized — by kaitlinwithak @ 5:56 pm

The futuristic and seemingly other wordly Michael Angel show took my breath away! With structured metallic pieces, and flowy colorful chiffon dresses I was easily transfixed. The collection exhibited a variety of pieces, from shiny structured tops, to slim cut trousers, and stunning dresses like the one below that closed the show. Some of the prints remind me of the inside of those rocks that you see at a museum… Like an entire amethyst rock split in half. Or peacock feathers! The videos and pictures are up on the mbfw web site.

The First Videos are up!

Filed under: Fashion, Uncategorized — by kaitlinwithak @ 5:45 pm

The video of the BCBGMaxAzria show is currently up on the fashion week web site! The show was at 10 am.

Among my favorites are a teal one sleeved beautifully draped mini dress and the opener of the show, a gorgeous white intricately draped mini dress cut on the bias. Everything is beautiful… One flowy colorful piece after another. The color palette is perfect and the fabrics are lush. I absolutely LOVE it.

There are some unexpected but beautiful takes on a dress thrown in there as well… a floor length frock that appears to be a dress…but when taking a closer look you can see the legs! The collection includes beautiful jackets that layer over the delicate dresses divinely. Most of the dresses are on the short side, and seem to emphasize the waist! But the floor length dresses are just stunning, I can picture them looking utterly amazing on Blake Lively.

Check it out for yourself :)

Fashion Week in a Word…

Filed under: Uncategorized — by kaitlinwithak @ 2:47 am

With the week we’ve all been waiting for just days away, New York magazine featured an article where the stars of the show (aka: the brilliant designers) summed up their new collections in a word.

Among my favorites were:

“Rigorousruffulous” – Phillip Lim …. Do I know what that means? No. Do I care? No. Phillip Lim can do no wrong, and I’m slightly obsessed with him.

“Egyptomania” – Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava. Not only do I LOVE Vena Cava (a favorite of Blake Lively) BUT I also have an affinity for all things EGYPT. Ever since I was in 2nd grade I loved ancient Egyptian culture, so I will definitely be pleased with this collection I’m sure :)

“Sweat” – Alexander Wang. I can’t wait to see what he means by that!

Serena’s White Dress – OMFG.

Filed under: Fashion, TV — by kaitlinwithak @ 2:26 am

I love Blake. I love Serena. I LOVED this dress. While the premiere of Gossip Girl was all I had hoped for, Serena’s white Oscar De La Renta dress really stole the show.

Maybe I’m a little biased because I saw this dress months ago in New York Magazine, and it is the grecian inspired wedding dress of my dreams, but I could NOT look away from Serena/Blake. The way she glided across my television screen, and how the firelight flickered off her flawless face while her and Dan shared a special moment together. And the hair… don’t even get me started on Blake’s gorgeous mane. She really does have the best head of hair in Hollywood.

I love Blake. I love Serena. I Love Gossip Girl. And I cannot wait til next Monday.

OH WAIT – FASHION WEEK BEGINS FRIDAY.
I’m not going to lie… I have the entire schedule penciled into my Filofax.

Should be a great week !
